Hey all!

My Vox is being a bit rubbish at the moment and blowing through lots of mains fuses (not the HT fuse). At the moment the fuse is a 630mA type and I was simply wondering if a) anyone has had a similar problem and b) would a 1A (or higher) fuse help if its blowing too quickly with slight current spikes?

Or is it something altogether more technical and expensive....

It's a fool who puts a larger fuse into their amp to "fix" a blown fuse.

Find out WHY your amp is blowing fuses

Cool cool, fair play!

Does anyone have any advice as to what possible things might be causing it so I can have a look? I have no problem having a check around, but wouldn't have a clue where to start!!

Would it be a tube related problem maybe (possibly a good time to replace the tubes with something a bit nicer!!)?

Power tubes or rectifier tube (if so equipped)

That would be for the HT fuse. Mains fuse is usually a short somewhere, or a part failing. Could be a filter cap going, or a biasing issue. There are other possibilities as well, but most have other symptoms that go with it.
