Let's hear it, post your thoughts!
1) When your chord definition turns to mush.
2) When you realize you have "0" bass response.
3) When your clean tone sounds flatter than last Sat. mornings' pancakes!

When I hear loss of bass response and punch then I know it's time.

I thought the batteries in my OD pedals were going dead, but my clean tone had lost it's definition. Fargen Blackbird was starting to sound farty. Power tube time I guess

Time to replace output tubes and/or the rectifier tube is when you start blowing fuses. Otherwise, if I suspect tubes are old and tired, I put a fresh set in, bias it similar to the old set and listen. If it sounds about the same, I put the "old" tubes back in and check that worry off my list.

What about drift within a quad? 2 yrs old and what was once a very close matched quad now ranges from 17.6mA to 24.8mA; 30% difference. Not a big deal...or retube?

When it sounds like two drunk guys playing through the amp at the same time.
