So its not really my SG but my bandmates. We play alt rock www.robotsoffury.com or www.myspace.com/robotsoffury

The rig she plays through is a JCM 800 100 watt combo, 2-12s. Skreddy Mayo for dirt.

The pickups are the standard 490 pickups without the covers. They are ok. But we were thinking of swapping the pickups out. The the studio all rhythm tracks were done with a les paul custom silverburst with a jb.

Any help would be sweet.

thanks

J

So, what tones are you going for? Knowing that will help people give you better advice that just tossing out some sort of replacement that might be going in the opposite tonal direction than you want...

Alt rock, indie rock, but she has a hard edge to her sound, very chunky. She does play clean now and then but uses a pog for some of those clean parts.

I'd try a pair of humbucker-sized P-90s for something a little different than the usual SG/humbucker thing. Plenty of edge to be had going that way... GFS Mean 90s, S-D Phat Cats, or similar....

Thanks for the input echale2, its really appreciated.
How about the Seymour Duncan 59? Would that be better than Gibson 57's?

I'm with echale3. A HB sized P90 would sound great. I really like the Harmonic Design Z90s. Amazing pickups that excel at just about anything.

Jeepers - almost the same rig as me.

I have a Duncan 59 or a jazz in the neck (never did verify - it's so old, that there's no markings, just 2 leads). Pearly Gates in the bridge.
