Had a really good time yesterday playing in a quartet for a wedding reception. Two guitars, keys and sax. Perhaps the coolest thing was the fact that we were able to record real-time beat-box loops to play over. I was skeptical too before we tried it while practicing on Friday night. No bass, so the other guitarist and I would take turns chording, soloing and taking bass riffs.
We took on some jazz standards like "Have You Met Miss Jones", "My Favorite Things", "Footprints", "Girl From Ipanema" etc. The Real Book is an incredible resource. I can see why that music is timeless. It's so much fun to play. Gotta love those major 7 chords
