Hi all-

About 2 months ago on Craigslist a gentleman post a For Sale ad in the electronics section about an older projector he had. I emailed him and it turned out he hadn't pulled it out of storage yet, so it'd be a while before I could check it out. He thought it was an old Bell and Howell though, so I told him to drop me a line when he had had time to grab it. Today he finally emailed me and said he had it out and I could come see it.

Long story short, this things in well used, but great condition for my purposes. All cables are there, original speaker (field coil?), amp is clean and all tubes look like new. The best part was that in the speaker cab there were a bunch of extra NOS "Bell and Howell" boxed tubes - 6V6's and others that go with the amp. Very cool looking to see how it would have come back in the day. The projector was also used for years as part of his light show rig @ Psychedelic shows he worked:)

Price payed - $30!

Specifics of the amp as far as I can tell is that it's got 3-4 6V6's in there right now, several of which I assume are for the projector. It's got a 5Y3 rectifier and a 6SL7-GT for it's preamp tube. Tranny's look a little rusty on top, but overall fine. The only model info I can read looks like Model V/Design 166.

Anyone have one of these? If so, once you got it cleaned up, was it cool as is or did it end up being tweeked with a new circuit, etc? Any ideas about what the speaker is? I'd assume re-branded major manufacturers product, yes?

Just curious for general feedback.

Thanks!

Sadly, no sound. The tubes glow, so it's getting juice, so I'm not sure what the issue is... I swapped out all of the tubes, but that didn't help. The speaker cable is a funny thing, so that might be the problem. I'm hoping my tech can toss a grounded chord on it, setup a normal 1/4" output on it, see if any caps are dead and then let me play the thing.

We shall see.

Anybody got one of these?

Which tubes are for the projector? Can I just pull them? Is it bad to have unneeded tubes on the chassis?

Thanks!
