I just wanted to relay a good vibe story.:AOK I like topwrapping my strings for the various reasons. A year or more ago I found a machined aluminum tuneomatice bridge tailpiece designed for just that. I bought it. I liked it. Very well made. Well I got a new guitar with a tuneomatic and wanted to convert it. so I took the one I had off another guitar and proceded to do the swap. In the process I discovered when you tapped the machined aluminum piece with another piece of metal TING TING. Bright, sharp, musical sound. When you tapped the other tailpiece. CLICK CLICK. Not so musical sound. I tried to order another one and the manufacturer's website was down. So I called the company from the invoice I had from the last one. The guy I spoke with was unaware of the web problem. He talked to me for a while and took down my info. He later sent me an email that the site was back up and running. I promptly ordered my new shiny gold topwrap tailpiece. Found out today he sent me an extra one for my time and interest. Sweet! :dude

I use one of these things on my SG. Love it. Glad that he's still around. (I almost feel like I should order half a dozen while he still is for future guitars...)

I installed one of these Tonetails on my LP today. Much lighter aircraft aluminum (compared to stock tailpiece - Zinc I think) and has the grooves to allow top wrapping without risk of string breakage ... I was worried about it. Tone seems good.

I was just about to "+1" this as exactly my thoughts...then I saw it WAS me. Seriously.

That's funny ... you really know you're in trouble when you are disagreeing with your own posts. At least you are in support of your position.
