Most Gibson SGs I have seen have the plug going in to the top of the guitar. I saw one today where the plug went in the side like a LP. Which Gibson SGs models have the plug going in the side?

Called Gibson about this one. They said having the output jack on the side for SGs does exist but is not that common. They did it for some years but the guy I spoke with did not know exactly which years.

The problem with having them on the front is that if you step on the cord while it's plugged in, you can rip out the jack. I did that to my Firebird clone.

Those are from ~1986 or so. Odd looking to me, the toggle switch is in 'the wrong place' too.

That's probably the strangest looking SG I've ever seen haha. I like it though!

Agreed... that is a pretty non-standard but very beautiful SG... sweet.

Is it from the 80's like the sonex? They had the same string through the body design.

How is the quality on the SG Special Faded?
They are really cheap for a second guitar with humbuckers (€630.00).

It is a 1990 model. Much better quality than the Sonex (I had one back in the 80s).
One piece mahogany body, one piece mahogany neck, 24 frets, 25.5" scale, ebony fretboard. The bridge humbucker splits to a single coil by pushing on the tone knob.

It looks like a cross between a Tele and an SG. Definately a cool guitar!!

Looks like this model also came with a Floyd Rose bridge!!

The Sonex (I had one, not great, but not horrible, either) wasn't a string-through, it had a standard Gibby TOM/Stoptail. Some L6s were string-through though, you may be confusing it and the Sonex...
Anyway, more on topic, on my Gibson guitars, I use a 90-degree angled plug. I run the cord between my strap and the guitar body, then plug the angled end into the guitar, straight end into the amp. I've BTDT with the whole ripping the jack out of the front of the guitar thing, and it sucks.
