I've decided that when I get my tax return, I'll be sending my LP's burstbuckers out to Wolfetone to rewind them to DR. Vintage specs. Anyone out there do this? How do you like them?:RoCkIn
edit: I took the pickups out (burstbucker 1 and 2) and there are "patent applied for" stickers on the bottom of both pickups. is this standard on burstbuckers? I am the original owner, and this is the first time I've taken the pickups out. PS: got the tax return, and I'm sending them out Tuesday
I have not done that, but I have been using Wolfetone's for a little while. I've have used the Marshallheads, timbrewolf bridge, and the finris bridge. No complaints whatsoever. Wolfe is easy to deal with and just an all around good guy.

I've never gone the rewind route but do I have burstbuckers in my R8 and have had the Dr Vintage pickups in my R8 and a 335...they were a low S/N with the Rick Norman selected magnets...
what are your burstbuckers not giving you? I prefer them to the Dvs.in that guitar...
the Dr. Vintage pups sound good (nice and round and sweet) on the treble strings but muddy and indistinct on the wound stings when using the neck pup...same in both guitars...that was the deal breaker for me...
my burstbuckers do not do that and they sound just as good or better than most replacement pups I've tried in that guitar except for a set of Tom Holmes pups...ymmv!

I sent 2 pairs of Classic 57`s to him for a rewind. he does great work and is extremely reasonably priced at least back a couple of years ago, around $50 for each p/up.

I replaced a set of BB's 1 & 2 with Dr V's in an 03R9 and the sound improved dramatically to my ears. Fuller, rounder, more articulate and less shrill. Both neck and bridge p/u's sound better to me.

Tax $ = Wolftone Pickups!!
I'm only getting $73 back from the IRS so I don't think any Wolftones are in my immediate future.

Yup, $50 / pickup. Great deal for something as quality as a Wolfetone

His rewinds are great.
I sent him a pair of 57 classics to rewind to Marshallhead specs. The difference was stunning. The original 57 classics aren't even in the same league as the rewind.
Dr.V's are great too. I think they are clean and very articulate. Very sensitive to height adjustment which is cool. They can really rock with a good gained up amp.

PLexi, glad to hear the praise on the rewinds. I was/am a bit unsure, but that is great to hear. I also just dropped an RS kit into my LP and now with the rewinds, it'll really be the perfect guitar for me.

You better check with him. I don't think he's doing rewinds anymore.

I'm not sure what his turnaround time is. I actually emailed him today regarding that. I'll post when I get the info

That's good to hear. I talked to him about a year ago and he wasn't doing rewinds. I've got a '57 Classic around here I'd like him to rewind.

I had more or less stopped a while back because things were moving pretty heavily for me. All the sudden things dropped off like a rock in December, so I'm picking them back up again. After I get a couple smallish EOM/Dealer orders out, turnaround time should be pretty short.
Right now, I've got to pick up the rewinds again and get as much work in as possible. I recently "inherited" two step-daughters, 7 and 9 years old. And they're always hungry. Suddenly finding myself with a full-on family wasn't something I expected to happen!
