Hey guys..Found a 2007 Suhr S1 for 1600 out the door. It is black with a black pickguard and the back of the neck is also painted black. Its very clean with only some pickguard wear. I am guessing that all the electronics are original. It plays like butter and has no fretwear. It is setup very nicely. The original case is also included.

From what I was told it was a one owner that got traded towards a LP. Just wondering what the used street values are on these things. Doesnt seem to be too many of them for sale in the emporium.

Thanks...

It's quite unlikely that the black pickguard or the black on the back of the neck are original.

A used one is currently listed in the Emporium for about $400 less than that, and there's one on eBay for $1599 with a best offer.

I would think you could probably find a better deal on an unaltered used one. But at any price, up to and including the new price of $1749, the Suhr S1 is a heck of a lot of guitar for the money.

You think the black is unoriginal on the neck? The serial number and Buzz Feitin tuning was there in white lettering..It was a high serial number..I forget what it is now but i want to say it was somewhere in the low 7k area.

I think thats a bit much for the market today. I was thinking of selling my 08 S1 for $1500 and Ive upgraded to the FL's with the BPSSC system.

Honestly I think you could find better deals but if the guitar speaks to you then you might grab it.

It definitely spoke to me! I told the GC salesman that I only had 1500 to spend and he hung it back up on the wall. There was a couple of phone calls made and all kinds of other shenanigans but in the end I walked out empty handed with my tax refund still in the bank. :(

Good for you! If he didnt give you $100 off on the thing, I think you lucked out. The great thing about the S1's is that they are all great and you wont have a problem finding another one that feels just as good.

I would highly doubt that a painted neck is original on a Pro Series instrument since the point of them is to make then to the same specs, and keep the price down.
If the neck has benn refinished, your lifetime warranty on the neck from Suhr is void.

If you are seriously interested in this guitar, you should go back to GC, get the serial number, then give the Suhr shop a call, and find out the story on the instrument.

Agreed... I can't imagine a Pro Series guitar with a black neck?

It was definitely interesting thats for sure..I remember first seeing it and thinking it was a neck thru until I saw the neck pocket. It really looked legit to me. All info on the back of the headstock was there just like you would expect. I will definitely call them first thing tomorrow and get the serial number so I can call Suhr.

There is a blue one in the emporium for just over $1200. Why would you want a Pro with the neck painted? The raw wood feels so smooth that paint would take away from what makes a Suhr so cool.

I picked up my S1 in near dead mint condition for $1150 in case with spares here at the emporium..... $1600 seems very high for an S1, especially one where someone has painted the neck.

Too much, 12 to 14 or so is a good price.

I LOVE my Pro 1, also got it used. Painted neck? Personally I'd be looking for another one.

YMMV

Could have it been a factory option?

No options on the Pro Series.

Does it say pro series on the back of the head stock? If not it's a standard custom order.

In the light of that information, I would guess that the guitar is not an S1 but a custom model of some kind. If so, $1600 is more likely to be a good price.

If you think your dealer might not have his information straight, ask him for the serial number. Suhr is often willing to provide you with a spec sheet for a guitar based on the serial number. From that sheet you can determine how much the guitar would have cost new and if every part of the guitar is original.

Thanks Munky..Im starting to think that myself..Maybe the dealer doesnt exactly know what they have. I did notice that it had 3 single coils and not the H/S/S that Ive been seeing in the S1's on ebay and here. Id love to take the pickguard off and see whats going on under there..

If it is the one in Portland, it doesn't look like a Pro Series. The headstock is black with white logo. It also has 1 volume and 2 tone knobs which wouldn't be original either.

If its 3 single coils its not a S1, more likely the classic version.

I paid $75 more than that for my Classic so I don't think that was a great price.
