Does anyone have a link or experience in changing the taper of an existing pot by adding parallel resistance? I have an amp that is a bit too touchy on the volume pot[s], and would like to have a bit more control at the low end of the volume control. The pots are 500K LIN right now.

I see that a similar schematic [Marshall 1959] uses 1M LOG pots. Can a 500K lin be made to act closer to a 1M LOG ?

Why not install a auidio taper (log) pot?

Why not install a auidio taper (log) pot?
I'm sure I will, just trying to do it the "easy" way, if possible.

Just install a new pot, you can get a linear pot to act like a rev log pot with resistance in parallel across the wiper, the greatest effective value of the pot is the resistor in parallel. for example a 1m lin pot with a 250K resistor across the wiper in parallel will give you a 250K rev log pot.
I think RG Keen has a good read on this called "The secret life of pots"
