Can anyone ID this speaker? It was given to me for free. Needed some TLC but sounds very good. I am guessing it is from a production amp, and Canadian, since I am in Canada.

145 prefix = Consolidated according to Weber's site.

Thanks. So I assume that Consolidated is/was a manufacturer of speakers? Any idea what amps they'd be in.

Consolidated was a manufacturer of speakers. They did not make musical instrument speakers, more for radios & general purpose stuff. That most likely came out of a radio.

Agreed. I'd take it easy with the power input to this thing, guessing 8W is about the limit. Many old speakers were built for efficiency so the consumer-grade equipment they were used in could use very low output (cheap) powered amplifiers.

I bet 8 watts would pop that thing. I would say 4 watts might be safer.

Really. I have it in a single ended 6v6 amp running about 5-7 watts and it sounds like god. But I did have to repair the cone the other day, because it is so deteriorated around the surround. The thing appears to be on its last leg. I guess I'll just have to enjoy it on it's way out the door!
Thanks folks.

If by the surround you mean the flotation ring, those are relatively easy to replace. IIRC Weber has kits for that.
