I am building a hot rod strat. Basically a ash body, rosewood neck. Humbucker/single/single.
Looking for opinions on a six screw trem, not really looking for a vintage style. I am not really going to be wrenching up & down on the trem, but it will get some use.
Thanks.

Callaham.
Isn't Callaham more of the vintage style? I have one on my Detemple & it's nice, just going for a little more modern style.

Mann made? Is that a manufacturer?
Thanks for the responses.

If you don't want a vintage style, why would you get a 6 screw? That is pretty much one of the defining features of a vintage style bridge.
For a hot rod strat I would go with a gotoh made wilkinson VS 100 They are easy to get, have a really sturdy build, and have great tuning stability.

If for some reason you have to have 6 screws I would get the gotoh made wilkinson VSV model. Again, very quality build, but the saddles lock in place, string holes are staggered, pop-in arm, great bridge.

Thanks, I am sort of going for a hybrid modern/vintage, & I just prefer the 6 screw. I will take a look at the Wilkinson VSV. Thanks again for your suggestions, I appreciate it.

Callaham has a modern vintage spec model with the more modern (close together) string spacing. It is machined very well, so the plate gives you a good knife edge against the screw just as Leo intended.

To take it a step further, Mann-Made has a very well machined trem and supplies you with 6 screws that have divots in them so that there is a better contact point for tuning stability. Great idea. Personaly I think 6 screws sounds better provided the rest of the metals are good as well as machining of the parts. But I use 2 point trems as well, and the Gotoh/Wilk stuff is great. For tuning stability, I have never had a better trem than the Fender Deluxe Locking Trem (but you don't get a 1018 CRS block...etc with that one but with locking saddles, it's great with locking tuners and an LSR nut).

"Best 6 screw trem for Strat?"

to answer that piticular question, Callaham. Vintage is the new modern. A Callaham bridge assembly is top shelf compared to any other type of the same.

I would agree with the Callaham comments and would also say you should keep an eye out for FedEx this Friday ;)

My K-Line strat has a Wilkinson 6 screw vintage trem...I'm not certain of the model...but the description of the VSV sounds like it...

That trem is amazing. It actually stays in tune under some pretty heavy trem use. I've never had one work like that before.

Mann Made are bridges by John Mann, the designer of the original PRS trems (Mil-Comm).

He has some cool choices. Callaham sound like a cool choice too.

hhmmm did not know that! prs bridges are incredibly smooth feeling. They don't have the greatest stability, but they play like butta!
