I have been really digging both Cry of Love albums, but especially Brother. It seems to me like compare very closely to Free. 4 piece band, great strong vocals, amazing guitar and bass players and solid drums. But more than that, is the feel of the music seems to scream Free to me...very soulful and funky rock and roll. Too bad they didn't have more albums.

Absolutely with a dose of Jimi at times due to Audley's use of Stratocasters primarily. Really good wholesome, down home American rock and roll with a strong British blues rock influence. Wish they would reunite and do an album and tour.

Audley freakin' ROCKS on those albums! You gotta wonder where they'd be if the Robinson bros. hadn't snatched him up???
Any chance of a reunion album???
I'm pretty partial to Brother as well- although Diamonds and Debris (I think I got that right??) has some really strong stuff too.....

Yes, definite Free influence. Audley's a great player; has some interesting instructional/interview clips on You Tube; make sure to check them out!

Yep, there's a Free / Bad Company / Paul Rodgers influence in there, and it's killer. I wish they'd get back together. I've been listening to both albums a lot lately. There's not a bad song on Brother.
They don't make 'em like this anymore.

Did you guys notice that the entire Diamonds and Debris album was written by Audley as well as several songs on Brother. I am talking about all music and lyrics. Man that guy is so talented and way underapprecaited in my opinion. I would have loved to have seen him do some more work with the Crowes, but would love to see COL get back together.

Kelly is such a great singer. Not many people can be favorably compared to Paul Rodgers and Kelly is one..
Damn I wish he would do a record.

I just found out about COL from the Warren Haynes Winterjam/Christmas/benefit whatever it is c.d.. I sure ain't helping the band out, but I just found a used copy of Brother on Amazon.... $.09. Plus shipping. Is there ever an end to this great 70's or 70's infulenced music that almost no one has ever heard of? I hope not! I think Audley played with Gov't Mule when I saw them many years ago in Atlanta.

I'd kill to see that. My two favourite guitar players on the same stage.

COL were better than Free. Just my opinion.

I need to pick up those Cry of Love records. I dig a band that tips their hat to Free.

I can totally see the comparison to Free. Brother and Diamonds and Debris are both on my desert island disc collection. Incredible stuff!

Well, Free was a real one-off... Very special...
But, of course, CofL was fine band w/ fine players and material.
