I'm going to upgrade from an Mbox to Mbox 2.
Jumping up to Protools 8 will be a big leap from version 6.1 that I'm using now. I also see that I can buy Mbox 2 Factory Bundle which includes some Maxim, moogerfooger Analog Delay, Joemeek SC2 Compressor, Joemeek VC5 Meequalizer, and Cosmonaut Voice.

My question is, is this worth the extra $100? Obviously I'm not using any of these plugins right now and won't know how useful they would be to me until I try them.

Does anyone have any experience with these plugins that could advise me if they are worth the extra $100 or not?

Be really careful jumping to PT8, I tried the M-box II with PT8 and even tech support is having a time with it I have a 2.8 GZ, 80 Gig, 2GB ram and the proper chipset, XP sp2 and now I have a real issue with getting PT to install..check out the compatability carefully

I've upgraded 8 different computers to PT8 - no problems whatsoever. But each computer already had the latest OS and plugins, which dramatically improves your odds of a successful upgrade.

PT8 now "includes" plugins (most are from Digi/A.I.R.) that make those you've listed above practically obsolete. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Elambo - That's what I think as well. I think I'll skip the Factory Bundle.

I'm running a 3.06 Ghz Pentium 4 PC with 2GB of RAM on Windows XP. Should I anticipate any installation issues?

sounds like an older machine. I tried to install M-Powered 7.4 (amnesty pack to 8) on one with an Athelon 64 1.8 GHz, 2 G Ram and Win XP SP3. It wouldn't run well and I had a lot of freeze ups. I ended up upgrading to an Intel quad core 2.6 GHz 3 GB ram Win XP SP3 for PT 8. Works like a charm.

The CPU should be fast enough - I'm not sure about the RAM. You may need a bump. Try it first with what you have, then upgrade if ProTools starts is slow and sloppy.
