thanks to all who pmd and asked me questions on my last thread.

here is a quick clip to see if i could get the chandler germanium pre a little less colored with some more punch.

you can compare it to the other clip is well.

differences were that the thick switch was not selected and i didnt drive the pre as hard.

The character of the Germ lies in the Feedback knob, as you may already know. The less you "feed back" to the input the cleaner the tone. The more you send, the dirtier. For extreme color, push in the Pad, go 100% on Feedback and set Drive wherever it needs to be to get the appropriate level. For the cleanest tones get Feedback as low as possible.

God no! There's STILL no specific formula, even after thousands and thousands of records by many great engineers, all with great guitar tone. Plenty of guidelines (I confidently consider a Germ and Royer 121 safe guidelines), but no rules.
