I'm going to buy an empty 4X10 Cab and am looking for suggestions on a good 10" speaker. I play clean 90% of the time and am not looking for a greenback/Marshall type sound. I like big sounding 6L6 amps like Two Rocks and Fenders.

Any suggestions?

Emi Legend 105 is a great all-around speaker, and not in the Marshall camp.

Other possibilities:
Emi Ragin' Cajun
Emi Copperhead
Weber 10F150/10F150T

The EVM 10M sounds like it would be the ideal speaker for what you're describing.

I use Alinco Jensens in my Boogie 4x10. I think they are P10R's, great sound.

I play my BF Super Reverb head into a 4x10 loaded with:

- 2 Eminence Legend 105's (ceramic)
- 2 Emiinence Legend 102's (Alnico)

Very 'big and warm' Fendery sound.

I experimented with these other 10's before settling:

- I found the Ragin Cajons too min-rangy 'in your face' - no sparkle
- I found the WGS Veterans too dull sounding - again, no sparkle

I'm fairly sure the EVM would be a good sounding option (I have a EVM12L in another amp), but 4 of them in a single cab would be a back-breaker!

Don't forget the 10" Greenback. I'd like a GB & a Gold with my sandwich, please.

I play a 2x10 with a Ragin Cajun and a Copperhead. That combo seems to work really well.

If you are playing a lot of cleans, and want something that does not color then tone much, Try the Jensen Neo 10/100.

I played a 2 X 10 amp a few weeks back with the 10/100's and really liked the tone. Very tight, crisp highs, nice articulate bass (and plenty of it) and bonus, Very light weight. I would imagine you could knock off about 8-10 lbs on a 4 X 10 cab.

Just a thought.

I can't recommend Tone Tubby speakers enough.

I have Tone Tubby's in all of my amps & cabs, and they never cease to amaze. I have a Hermida ported 4x10 cab for my converted Super Reverb head, with 2 Ceramic Tone Tubby's and 2 Alnico Tone Tubby's. Sounds awesome.

Recently, I installed a 10" ceramic Tone Tubby in my Fender Super Champ XD. Wow!!

Thanks for all of the great ideas!!! I think I'm leaning toward the EVM, Celestion Gold, and/or Tone Tubby.

Emi Legends can't be beat for the price, if that's a concern.

Emi also has a hemp cone 10" out now if Tone Tubby is your thing, it's called Lil Buddy.
