Hello,

I want a delay that sounds like DMM but I want to power it with a 9vDC and I don't have that much of space on my board.

Any recommendations?

Ps. Please don't say, just buy a DMM. I know it wont be exactly same but I want to get as close as I can.

Carbon Copy? How much will you be using the modulation?

You're going to have a tough time finding something that is spot on or even close to the DMM sound. I would say that any good analog delay with modulation can get you pretty close, but again it's not going to sound quite as good as a DMM. I would recommend the MXR Carbon Copy, the Malekko E600B, or you might want to wait for the new 616 and 919 Malekko delays with modulation. All of these are analog, though I also recommend the Cmatmods Deeely which I own. It isn't analog and doesn't have modulation, but the delay sounds very analog but not overly dark and the repeats degrade very musically.

Yeah I'm thinking of carbon copy too. Just wanted to know if there are better options. I won't use the modulation a lot but it would be nice too have a little.

Take a look at the skreddy echo and the subdecay echobox...both have fully adjustable modulation. They are also both digital delays so they allow for longer repeats.

What about the new DMM xo? It's only available in Europe right now, to be released in North America when they stop making the standard DMM.

There's also the Jacques Prisoner; French-made analog delay with very nice modulation (depth & speed controls). Smalller than a BOSS pedal, but larger than an MXR, it's only got 300 ms (as opposed to the DMM's 550) and doesn't oscillate. Preety cool sounding little box, tho'.

On the market now? Carbon Copy, while different, is great. I'd imagine the Echobox would get closer in sound.

The new Malekko 919 is what I'm waiting for (along with the Seymour Duncan Deja Vu).

i have a DMMXO its great, sounds almost identical to my buddies original 70s full sized DMM.

got it from thomann and then bought an american power supply. bit pricey, but worth it for sure.

ill be getting mn3005s to double the delay time. should be sweet. its about .5 seconds now, but with the different chips it should do a full second.

How hard can it be!? The Carbon Copy is that size for crying out loud, and sounds like a million bucks!

I've opened it up: I'm sure they could even move the modulation controls to you outside (especiall if they're mini pots).

they should just put small holes in the back plate so you can adjust with a screwdriver without having to take off the back completely.

the carbon copy is a great delay.

I had a Carbon Copy and really didn't bond with it at all. Maybe it was the unit I had (though none of the ones I've played have done anything for m), but it just didn't do anything for me. The DMM in is an entirely different league, IMO. I was just talking to my buddy today about this (DMM in a small box) and it seems nobody has really been able to do it. The DMM is a very special pedal and that sound is hard to replicate. I think the Retrosonic Analog Delay (though based on the DM-2) would be amazing if it had modulation and quite DMMesque.

I wonder what the new EQD delay is gonna have, feature-wise.
Might be one worth watching.
Also, the Malekko will probably kick ass, too!

That'd be awesome if they did/do! Have you gone yet, man?!
Any idea when the 919's are to be released?

Where did you hear they (Earthquaker Devices) are working on a new delay?

Since the last one was such a hit, with a good deal of features, I'd bet the new one has tap...

No I haven't been yet!

Apparently, the 919 is out in April... but I want to know the exact day and hour...

The analog model on the Echo Park is said to be a model of the DMM. I had both for awhile, and the EP can indeed get VERY close.

Carbon Copy is too dark/not as clear as DMM.

yea echo park is the closest thing to a dmm. i just cant stand the d@mn knobs, its almost useless for knob tweakers!

Unless you need the modulation, try an old Boss DD-2. The quality of the repeats is very similar. (I have A/B'd both pedals.)
