Here it is. Watch carefully and although both John and George have Rics, it seems sloppy editing shows someone on a grassy knole playing a Gretsch. There is evidence of a third strummer!
Well perhaps it is poor editing, but I found this amusing anyway.

I also think that the PA was set well so that they did not need monitors. The belief that they could not hear themselves is kind of nieve. I played may a concert in my younger days with no stage monitors at all and depended on FOH volume to hear the vocals. I think with the fact that The Beatles were in essence a VOCAL group, that the ballance put the vocals so far out front that monitors were kind of a mute point to begin with. Note also the amps were also mic-ed so they were not at drounding stage volume to boot.

I think you're missing an important difference between your younger days, and the Beatles, and that is the thousands of screaming (not cheering/clapping) girls.
Talk to people who were there. This phenomenon has not been repeated, and no one here will know quite what it was like.

Awesome. That must have been so strange. How many people were at that concert? And the screaming!

I saw 'em in '66 in Toronto and I could barely tell they were playing....I could tell what song it was but the screaming was totally amazing!!!

You could see them playing, but you could never hear a note. I had never heard screaming like that before and seriously doubt I ever will again...
