Has anyone ever done this?

I like my DRRI, but I LOVE my 4X10 Bassman and I really like a Super Reverb, but hate the weight.

I'm just curious if anyone ever tried to pair the syrupy sweet goodness of the DR's 6V6s with the room filling punch and clarity of Four 10s?

You could even do it with the stock OT, if you wired four 16ohm speakers in Series/Parallel for a total 8ohm output.

Just curious and, if not, what's the down side of trying it?

Allen sells a cab for that, so they're out there.

4-16ohm speakers wired in series parallel = 16 ohms. You would need 4-8 ohm speakers.
Why not 4-8" speakers? They have amuch more complex sound than 1-12".

I tried it for a while. Use 4-8ohm speakers wired series/parallel for an 8ohm load.

All else being equal, a Deluxe Reverb chassis in a 4X10 combo cabinet is not gonna be that much lighter than a super reverb. The Deluxe Reverb transformers will be a few pounds lighter than the super reverb transformers but that is about it. Unless you load the Deluxe Reverb with 4 lightweight 10" speakers it is not gonna be that much lighter than a super reverb.

True 'nuff.....

But with 3 more speakers, you have a 3x chance that some pretty girl in the bar will want to get to know you!

Why do you think bass players use 8 speakers with their SVT rigs? Compensation!

I said 4-eight inch speakers. Superb tone with the right speakers.
Very light and smaller than a Super.

Yeah, he blew my whole ass off at the last gig playing a '72 SVT through a pair of new 810-AV cabs. I kinda wanted to kill him.
