I was putting in a Trlam to test and as I pused down I heard this crunching sound . i pulled it out and on bothsides of the glas where the plates are crimped was a crack up the entire tube!
In 35 years of tube fun,I have never seen this happen. What could have casued this?: This was a perfect tube to start with!

Does your tube tester have a pin straightener? Sometimes the pressure of a slightly bent pin does bad things. Sometimes its just old glass...Whats a Triam? bob

I feel for you,
Somehow about 15 minutes ago I just broke a locator pin on a 6V6GTY, My last NOS pair yet, I think sometimes things just get to routine and Murphy chimes in :FM

Oh the irony!
I dont see the irony Shawn. :dunnoHave I done something in your opinion that karma dictates I break a valuable item and nearly slice my finger open?
And sorry for the typo, It was Telam.

Similar thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago. Had alot of noise coming from my Fender Blues Deluxe. I pulled all the tubes and put them back in to make sure none had came loose. When I pulled out a preamp tube there was glass dust came out with it. I replaced that tube and the noise was gone.
