The Distortron is the distortion side of the Box of Rock with an added bass switch and gain switch both of which can be set to be the same as the Box of Rock. So, yeah, it is basically the same.

Yeah its an improved BOR because the 2 major complaints with that pedal (and I agree with both) are that it had too much bass/flub and not enough gain. I also didn't bond with the boost. So for me the distortron is a serious contender along with the DLS and that new wampler flexi drive. But the BOR is long gone.
