I just got a BP30 head in trade. I have it plugged into a closed 1x12 cab loaded with a Red Fang. I have a few questions:

1. Do you generally use one of the "Voicing" settings or do you fine tune for different guitars/sounds? If you leave it in one place, which do you prefer? My short tryout leaves me favoring the "Dark" setting. Which leads to question 2.

2. Do you find the amp particularly bright? I do. I like it best with the "Tap" turned to 0.

3. What are you preferred settings if you're looking for a clean "blackface" tone? It seems eager to go into overdrive and clean tones seem to be harder to find.

4. Do you find the amp to be "damn loud" even at the 8 watt setting? I do.

5. Are you using the loop or not with your pedals (or some in front, some looped)? What do you find is working best?

Please feel free to share any other info that you think a new owner might want to know.

Welcome to the club!

I have the head and matching 2x12.

1. I usually use the natural... sometimes the dark when playing a bright guitar, like tele. I also like the dark with teh bridge of an LP when really driving the power tubes in either of the triode modes. I find it gives a nice crunchy bark.

2. I usually have the top anywhere from 10 oclock to 2 oclock... I dunno, when running an effects chain in front, I find it helps with the top end... especially when using darker effects like analog delay. It works sometimes, other times it gets really shrill. You might find you will use it more if your speaker gets broken in a little more.

3. I don't know that you will really find a clean blackface tone in there. The cleanest your going to get on this amp is in the full 30w setting with your preamp gain turned down around 9-10 oclock. But it will get pretty gritty if you're using humbuckers, or if you have any type of boost in the chain.

4. YES! This amp is pretty efficient I think... It's stood right up against a half-stack marshall with me... full band, and I didn't need a mic in a medium sized bar (150 patrons)

5. Naw, the loop is line level. Unless you have rack gear, or that option on your pedals, throw them out in front.

Join the Posse thread... lots of good info in there!

Congrats on the new amp! I love mine!
