I bought one of these recently based on the glowing reviews:

It's a Phaez Daisycutter 14, a $329 kit in the sense you have to build a head cab for it as it's a complete working amp. Stunning. Even at hi gain settings it cleans up nicely with the guitars volume rolled back. It FEELS right. Very clean inside. Hard to get a bad sound out of it. It is my #1 amp.

GDS amps are great!
Graydon pretty much started the 18 watt craze.

You might want to open your question up to "less than 20 wt, EL-84 amps". 15wts to the EL-84 crowd hints at a Vox inspired amp.

OK, consider it open! Although I was initially thinking more Vox-ish than Marshall-ish. :)

Ditto....my 18watter was very easy to build, had top quality parts with a manual that was excellent from cover to cover.

I've had many opportunities to A/B my GDS with other 18's and it has a fullness that blows the others away. It's really an mini plexi!

Interesting responses. I was wondering if Ceriatone or other more commonly discussed vendors would be cited. This is yielding some very interesting options. :)

Ceriatone 18 watt TMB EF86, its got Marshall and Vox/Matchless style preamps, and it sounds amazing. I'm missing mine already.
