Anybody know the chords?

Also, on "Trio -> Live" it's AABA, with A section 16 bars, B (bridge) 8 bars and then, uh, just a modal jam for the improv? Does he do it differently on other recordings?

EDIT: He solos over the form, my mistake.

I have the chart here somewhere...I used to play it a lot in a band I was in years ago.

Pat published a book of many of his tunes that might be worth checking out - http://www.amazon.com/Pat-Metheny-Songbook-Lead-Sheets/dp/0634007963

If you wanna get it right...

I don't remember how PM did it but I always soloed over the whole form...I don't see why Pat wouldn't. On the original recording I'm pretty sure he was playing the changes, if memory serves.

I used to mess around with this tune (the Like Minds version). I should know the answer to this, but I'd have to give it a listen again.

Bridge changes: (first 4 bars with a D pedal)

Gm7 / / / D7b9 / / / Gm7 / / / D7b9 / / /

Gm7 / Ab7 / DbM7 / Eb7 / AM7 / C7 / FM7 / A7b9 /

Every version I've heard Pat play he solos over the tune's AABA form.

very nice tune... i actually got to play it a few times with gary burton & our band last year. that was kind of weird/fun/scary at the same time... :-)

it's an E7 (13) in bar 6 (of the bridge...)

this is a really nice version from last year's tour w/gary burton:

Thanks guys. I haven't played through yet with the recording so ... is there any consensus on measure six of the bridge?

if you want written proof it's on pg. 264 in the PM Songbook
(he actually writes E13) and you can listen to the E7 (part of that short 'coltrane changes' bit)
in the recordings and the vid clip pt.1...

starting from the bridge it is (quoting from his book)

1st bar Gm7/D
2nd bar D7b9
3rd bar Gm7/D
4th bar D7b9
5th bar Gm7 Ab13
6th bar Db maj7 E13
7th bar Amaj7 C13
8th bar Fmaj9 A7b9

the rhythmic division of bars 5-8 is quadruplets against the 3/4,
meaning two chords lasting three 8th notes each over the 3/4...

Doh! That's the right chord. Thanks for the correction.
