I have two 8 ohm cabs and I want to use them both but i only have one output on my amp. The amp needs to run at 8 ohms.
I know that I can run both the cabs in series at 16 ohms but I would like to maximize power.
Is there a special cable that I can get that will allow me to do this? Is it impossible?
Thank You.
There's no way to run two 8ohm cabs together and still have 8ohms. Your amp deosn't have an impedance selector switch?

hmm...for strictly personal reasons, I do not recommend this vendor:

However, this is pretty much what you want.

The amp is a Fender 300ps from 1975 so no it doesnt.
Is why you dont like the vendor a reason that I should look elsewhere?

Six (or eight?) 6550's cranking out 300W clean, God only knows what peak...a 100W Z-Matcher will not do. It does show that the solution is possible. I believe the Z-Matcher is fundamentally an autotransformer with a lot of taps. You'd need one safe for 600W peaks...that's thick wire with very solid connections.

A company like Heyboer might make you one for something reasonable. You'd have to package it safely.

ok is there any way to do it without buying what I assume will be an expensive part?
And it is 660 watts peak btw

also, how would it affect the amp's performance if i just ran it at 16 ohms?

No way to make two 8 ohm cabs total 8 ohms. Run both in parallel at 4 ohms is a little safer than running into 16 ohms in series due to increased chance for flyback.

Could you remove tubes, half the output, and run at 4 ohms? Then run the cabs in parallel? Can this be done? Just curious...

I think halving the power would require doubling the load in order to restore full bandwidth response.
