Mesa VS. VHT cabs: I need some advice

Hey there friends,

I need some advice. Here is my issue; right now I am running a Mesa Mark IV combo with a 1x12 wide cab. But very soon I will be purchasing a Mark V. So as of now I have two options for cabinets

Cab 1: A VHT vertical 2x12 with V30's. It's available here in Toronto Canada for $420 CND. But it's a little dinged up.

Cab 2: A Mesa vertical 2x12 with V30's. It's in Cleveland and with shipping should cost just over $500 CND. It's in new condition.

Should I go with price and conveniene or should I go with the Mesa/Mesa match and condition.

Any thoughts or advice would be great.

really up to you, does the $80 cdn that big of a deal, my marshall cabient goes well anything, dings just means its been used, of course I put all the dings in the cabinet myself over the years.

course a like new mesa cabinett for $500 really something I would not pass up if I was getting new mark v, I have a mark iv combo as well, pure class mesa is.

Another $80 get me a match in good condition. That's pretty good. I should ask my wife, she is wise.

In my humble experience, VHT made really good cabs while Mesa makes some nice cabs.

I have a Mesa 2x12 vertical Recto cab, and I like it a lot. But I paid $350 (plus some money for gas to get me to it). $500 Canadian is...yipes...$587 in American moolah at the moment. No way would I have paid that.

Also remember that you'll be in for taxes and brokerage on the declared value when the Mesa cab crosses the border. If it goes ground by a courier (UPS, FedEx, etc.) the brokerage fees are high... USPS better, but you're still due for tax/smaller brokerage.

The exchange rate calculator I was using on my iPhone must have been smoking something! I see what you mean now. That is actually a decent deal on the cab, but in spite of the appeal of matching heads and cabs, I'd say probably just go with the VHT since it's local and bound to be a good product.

Personally, I'd go with what sounds best.
