So I'm watching American Idol last night with my wife and to my surprise, it's "rock week" on Idol. I'm thinking, "Oh, boy...can't wait for the horrible rock covers and sound." I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of guitar toys on the stage. I know Idol has a huge gear budget but it's still cool to see gear candy everywhere. Fuchs, Bogner, Orange and a ton of guitars. Very nice!

I could be wrong, but I didn't see any mikes on those amps. Wonder how they're recording the live sound.

I was suprised to see a yellow 2008 Parker Fly Mojo on the rack (Slash????) in numerous shots.

Loved seeing some great gear up there too!

That was Raphael Moreira with the Bogner rig. Formerly of the Rock Star house band, Pink, Christina Aguilera, etc. Killer player.

And of course, Paul Jackson with the Fuchs.

Anybody know who the guy was with the Orange rig?

Thanks for confirming Moreira. I knew that was him. He's a great guitarist and has great tone.

Looks like that dude loves Vintage 30s. I have never been able to make them sound as good as he does.

Somebody sure had a lot of chorus going on, especially during "Whole lotta Love".

As somebody mentioned above, I'm assuming the cabs are just there for looks that are feeding offstage ISO boxes, with the guitarists using in-ears or onstage monitors.

i thought dude with the bogner had awful tone. in fact, i didn't really like any of the guitar tone. some was fine, but i guess bogner isn't my taste.

One of the singers commented on having a hard time hearing himself because of the stage volume. Seems there was some real noise on stage too.
