The bulb went on my tweed deluxe. The 1847 bulb in it looks like an automotive bulb, is it the kind of thing that I can get at my local Canadian Tire (CDN housewares, hardware, automotive department store) or is it not that common?

#1847 works. So will a #47. Both are 6.3V lamps and, as such, you may not find them at a auto store, since cars typically don't have a 6V system.
Might get lucky, though.
Radio Shack sells them....as would any decent electrical / electronic supply house.

There is a radio shack...or whatever the hell they call it these days where I'm grabbing food on my lunch break. I'll give them a try instead. Thanks.

If you use a 12.6V lamp it is still plenty bright enough and will last a LOT longer.

Ended up hitting The Source (the Radio Shack of today) and they were discontinuing most of their useful electronics products. I ended up getting a couple of 2-packs of #47 bulbs for $0.97.
