Flea pops up everywhere! I was watching Son In Law a couple of weeks ago (yeah, that movie with Pauly Shore) and Flea played a tattoo artist.

Meatloaf has been in alot of movies, a couple that come to mind, he played some psycho in Formula 51 and he was Jack Black's father in Tenacious D Pick of Destiny. Speaking of that movie, who can forget Dio singing in the poster!!

This thread is alot of fun and makes me realize I watch WAY too much TV!!! :)

Here's some more besides everything mentioned:

Dave Matthews in "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry"
Billy Idol in "The Wedding Singer"
Burt Bacharach in the "Austin Powers" series of movies
Henry Rollins as a doctor in "Johnny Mnemomic"
David Lee Roth was in an episode of The Sopranos

Anyone ever seen that "psychedelic western" called Zachariah?

Came out in the late '60s. It was ALL cameos, including the James Gang, Elvin Bishop, and even jazz drummer Elvin Jones.
I think the stars were actually Country Joe and the Fish.

I never saw it, although it played as a "midnight movie" back in the 70s.
I believe the authors of this movie were the Firesign Theater.

Maybe my favorite cameo was in "Mystery Train" -- Screamin' Jay Hawkins plays a night clerk at a hotel. Looking very ominious, too.

Jim Jarmusch movies always have some interesting cameos. That movie had little appearances by a whole bunch of people, like Joe Strummer, Rockets Redglare, etc.

John Landis, the guy who directed "The Blues Brothers," was another guy who always loaded his pictures with cameos. He made some movie with Jeff Goldblum as a guy who couldn't sleep so he wanders around LA all night getting into trouble -- can't remember the name of it -- and it was one cameo after another, including David Bowie as some kind of mob enforcer, I think.
Blues Brothers had a jillion cameos, but my favorite moment was the passing scene of John Lee Hooker doing some boogey in a Chicago street fair.

neat movie. Fastway was all over that soundtrack. i think the movie starred Skippy, from family ties.

and as we've moved beyond cameos, I'll add a couple more cameos/feature roles:
Dave Grohl as the devil in "Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny". Ronnie James Dio and Meatloaf were in this too.
Greg Dulli as a porn director in "Passenger Side", and "Beautiful Girls'
Meatloaf and Alice Cooper in "roadie"
Glen Campbell as Lebeuf in "True Grit"

I read most of the posts but didn't see Keef in Pirates of the Carribean. Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

As an aside, Jim Carrey was the rock idol guy in Dead Pool. Totally got me back then; I didn't know it was him till years later and I was a big fan.

Of course, Blues Brothers has everybody in it including my favorites--Duck Dunn and Steve Cropper. Somebody can probably name them all in the next post.
