Hi guys. I need a whammy for my grab and go gig. Right now im using the Axefx pitch shifter but all of this talk about multi's and grab and go rigs have got me thinking of downsizing. Its either I get a whammy4 for my pedal board or an RP500 to replace my board all together. What do you guys think? How does the whammy perform on a RP500, x3l etc? Btw, ill be using it with high gain tones.

Thanks!

Wish I could help miks, but I'm at a loss as to what to do with whammy. What tunes do you use it to play?

BTW, I'm told by many folks that Digitech whammy in general is very highly thought of, incl several such threads here on TGP. (GNX3 user here.) But it says more about my playing than anything about Whammy that I've not learned to do anything useful with it. :)

had a digitech rp300, have not checked out the rp500 to see what it has, though looks pretty cool.

have their Whammy pedal, nice pedal, does a couple of octaves and on board harmonies, though the effect I find I use all the time is the detuned guitar, pretty cool way to sound like two guitars playing at once, not sure if I answered your question, personally I have gotten tired of the multi-effects pedal pretty quickly, the limitations drive me nuts after a while, individual pedals after I find what I want seem to last a whole lot longer in my set ups.

I used a Digitech Ex7 expression factory and was very happy with it because it had 7 total effects that all sounded pretty decent. The whammy sounded great and was really tweakable. Having said that, the total sweep from toe to heel was very little.
