Resistor question: 500k to 250k?

I have long done this, using a 470k resistor to make the singlecoils see 250k with a 500k vol pot in a HSS guitar. I have always used a 250k tone pot with this. BUT, if I want to use a 500k tone pot, and still have the singles roughly see both a 250k vol and 250k tone pot, how big should the resistor be then?

assuming you have a way of kicking it in on a tone pot as well as a volume pot, use the same value for the same reason (500k, 470k is close enough).
