I probably use the neck pickup the most, followed by the bridge pickup. The middle pickup gets the least use. I sometimes use the 2 and 4 positions for funkier stuff or chording.

I use the neck/middle 2 position more than any other. I use the neck 1 position freqently. I use the middle/bridge 4 once in awhile. I dont use the middle or bridge pickups all by their lonesome ever, can't stand the sound of these two by their selves.

Neck, then middle, then bridge. I never use the 2 & 4s on my strat because it's old and has a 3-way switch. The bridge is just too thin for me and it's hard for it to cut through sometimes. On the couple of strat-like H-S-S guitars it would be neck, then bridge, then middle or maybe the 4 position. I really only ever use the 2 position for funk, and its gotta be brite otherwise I'll just use pos. 4 for funk stuff.

pretty much use them all, humbucker in the bridge of my fat strat sounds good with middle pup, humbucker is split coil, gets some really nice tones in the bridge pup, my SSS with the lindy fralin blues specials, and base plate on the bridge pup really gets a great aggressive tone which is hard to get off of.

Do mind telling me more. What type of humbucker? Did you wire this up yourself or did you buy it that way? 250, 500K pots???

Neck the most, followed by 4,2,1,3.

Bridge first, then neck, then the quack positions. I don't think I've ever used the middle alone for more than 30 seconds.

Mostly the bridge/middle split. Lately I've been able to dial up a nice, full tone in that position on my Suhr. But all of them get used.

All except the bland middle. I love the notch positions because I love 70's strat tones.
I use the neck the most. My strat has the blender circuit so I'd say I use the neck/bridge together second. I actually really like the middle pickup alone for rhythm and chording. I use it much more than the in between positions.

I think I'm the oddball here, but when i play a strat, I go for the middle pickup more often than the other two combined, but I do love the tone of the neck pickup and the bridge + middle combo. I usually avoid the bridge only unless I'm using a particularly dark sounding amp.

Same here. I haven't really had the opportunity lately, but I rewired all of them so the tone control works for the bridge pup, so I'd probably use it was more than before. Neck is my absolute favorite Strat tone, though.

Usually bridge or neck. Sometimes middle. But I rarely use positions 2 and 4.

4, 5 and 2 in order of importance. 2 only because 1 is basically unusuable for me with no tone control. I have to eq the amp differently for that pickup alone :( On 2 I can blend 'em and it's workable for the high gainier stuff.
One day I might get some tone control on the bridge, but I'm afraid I'll mess with it's mojo!

I play with the neck pickup most of the time.
Second would be bridge/middle combination - for Knopfler-esque sounds.
And then the bridge pickup for old rock & roll solos.

For me...usually the neck and the 2 and 4 the most. But I spend most of my strat time clean.

I use all but the middle in a 5-way wiring. I could never hear when that would be used. Maybe someone could point out a few classic examples of the middle pickup and then I would use it after all these years.

Depends on the Strat. I have some that the neck pickup sounds the best, some the bridge, some the neck/middle... seems like every strat is different, even ones with the same pickups can have very different sounds... throw a different amp into the equasion and my preferences can change yet again... I do agree the middle alone is the least used.

I guess I use it because I tried it and liked the sound, not because I wanted to copy somebody else.

I use the middle pickup quite a bit. It's a classic older-blues sound (Otis Rush at Cobra Records comes to mind), Hendrix liked it, and Curtis Mayfield swore by it.
Here's Anson Funderburgh on his middle pickup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxFEAtqwofs
Stevie Ray Vaughan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHEVIWpX2XM (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHEVIWpX2XM)
And Jimmie Vaughan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNpUmlTc_mI
And Clapton with slightly more gain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCJ15r-ny5Q

Neck/middle and bridge.
+1.
Pretty much do all my soloing these days with neck/middle and bridge for crunchy stuff.

#1 - Neck 40+%
#2 - Bridge/Middle 20+%
#3 - Neck/Middle 20+%
#4 - Middle 10%
#5 - Bridge 1%
The top 3 positions are where MY strat sounds the best... but there are SO many different PUPs out there and amp types that my preferences could change in a sec!

I used to use the neck pretty much exclusively.
So much so that ~year ago I decided to try to incorporate more of the available sounds. Now I'd say I split it pretty even between middle, neck and bridge. 2/4 don't see much use, maybe in another few years.

Middle position or bridge/neck (In between position with a 3 way switch). Tonewise the combination sounds like the middle pickup but with the quack. How do I manage that you ask. My 64 strat was miswired at the factory with the neck pickup in the middle switch position and the middle pickup in the neck switch position. I've had the guitar since 69 but I only found out it was miswired two years ago when I had it repaired--I thought they were all like that.

Neck mostly - gotta love those bell like tones.
I am still partial to the crunch on offer from the bridge, especially with my strat being tone controllable there.
Dosn't compare to the bridge pup on my tele, but is passable.

When I'm playing in my music room, I use neck mostly, bridge for solos and the 2 and 4 positon for clean noodling.
However, when playing live it's 75% middle pickup, with neck and bridge for solos and hardly ever 2 or 4. Middle position is the greatest rhythm position.
