as some might know I've always had a thing for long ambient pieces. Furniture music that's appreciable to casual listeners who want a background to stargazing, reading, etc. but still (hopefully) musically engaging. Feel free to chill to it when you're cruising the gearpage for tube screamer clones and robben ford threads :)

So I set out to do a piano track with a few motifs and recurring themes. Tried to give it a different voicing with layering a synthesized string section in there. That gets mixed up further as I add a bit of soft flanging to the strings only. I tried my best to explore silence/anticipation themes in there.

The guitar parts are meant to be largely complimentary to the piano groove. The point I was going for was subtlety. There are some very soft/quiet guitar parts in there that hopefully compliment the chords well. Also there is a lot of feedback and trem-bar action.

hope you dig it. As always, comments and criticism are appreciated.

I have been thinking of developing a solo project around the same concepts you are using.

I don't play keys, other than to noodle, but have contemplated some synth, rhythm machine, Korg Kaoss 3, and my trusty Boomerang +.

Keep up the good work.

Overall enjoyable :AOK I think the keyboards are to high in the mix, try using the guitar for more background ambiance as well. It sound much more organic than synth stuff, to me... And do try some looping it can make a track develop in a very spontaneous way.. Sort of the idea I had with looping, ambient and nice.. it went the other way and became almost noise music.. but I like it :o.
My latest clips are probably more noise than ambient, the last part is sort of ambient (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=924516&songID=7675710).. and the thing called Big C... All noise you hear is guitar either direct via looper or processed with KP3

thanks for listening guys! I almost forgot about this clip. Its good to hear some feedback.

I've done a little bit of looping on my soundclick (the songs dire and lucid are based on looped guitar parts and piano parts respectively... more overtly frippish). I don't have a looper right now, but I'm going to be reacquiring a timefactor again, so there might be some more looped stuff soon.

I liked your stuff abergdahl, especially the changes. the drum beat was very phil collins-esque.

Nice, very atmospheric.

A little Satie or Debussyish. I'd have put the guitar a little further back in the mix with more long reverb and a little delay.

Here's my attempt at something minimalist. No Guitar (all played on guitar synth) Once again its not something that one needs to conentrate on as it moves quite slowly until building up at the end.

The one below is a found sound noise piece. I imagined walking on a dark deserted moor at night. I see lights in the distance in a disused quarry.

I hoped that that track would arouse images of lonely places, mystery, danger etc. You be the judge. I'd be interested in how other people are affected by it.

It's pretty long and not really music; it might make a soundtrack for a movie scene.

re-animator, listening to you're looping stuff... COOL and crazy :) Funny how looping brings out something "strange" in so many us....
Bob, listened to you're stuff, very nice I like it a lot. Music or not...
