Anyone use this pedal? Like it? Love it? Hate it? V1/V2 preferences?
Just curious about the quality and if the V2 upgrades are an actual improvement from V1 to V2.
Any info from users about either version would be great. Thanks!

I have the opportunity to get a new old stock V1 for $109...wondering if it's worth taking the drive to try it out.
I like the look and build of the V1 better, but I've read about noise complaints.

You should be able to find a new version for pretty close to that.

New, they generally go for $149. If folks tend to like the V1 better, I'd rather save the $$$.

I'd rather buy new...I'm weird that way...a bit anal.
Have you actually used the pedal?

The Rt 66 V1 is very good. I've had one since they first came out. I know some say that it's noisy but I don't find it to be noisier than most other comps. If you crank up the gain or sustain to 3:00 it's going to add some noise. I like the Sustain at around 2:00 and Gain around 11:00 and I have no noise issues. I had the OD side modded by Keeley a long time ago so I can't comment on the OD. Read the old H-C reviews to see what the majority of people thought back then. If I remember, most were very positive.

They are very positive...just wonder if the V2 brought significant improvement, or if it went the other way as happens so often.

Guess there's not much love for the Route 66...or maybe Visual Sound for that matter.

I used to own a V1 R66. Love that pedal much more than the V2 series mostly for its looks. The enclosure to me is already pretty bulky and unnecessarily large...but when you make it look like a space ship in the V2 series, itīs just unappealing to me. But the V1 had excellent tone and from what I experienced, there wasnīt a big discrepancy in tone. Itīs a good pedal overall.

I should add that the only thing to finally knock it off my board was the new MXR '76 RI DynaComp. Actually, I lie - I currently have them both on my board!:D

Why did you dump it?
The V2 Visual Sound pedals compete for ugly with the new BBE pedals. Yuck.

I dumped it for a few reasons. At the time I already had an MI Audio Blues Pro on my board and I thought that TS sounded a little better than the R66. I also have a Diamond Comp now (which has knocked off all other comps off my board). The R66 comp is good but I felt like the Diamond comp held more true to my tone. And finally, the pedal is just too dang big.

I liked the switches on the v1 much more than the v2 switches. The comp on the 66 is an amazing sounding compressor, that used to be on all the time. Great comp, decent od.
