Howdy,
I'm pretty new to TGP and have what is probably a pretty dumb question. Hope this is the right forum.
I've had the 550 for a few years now and only used it a few times. I'm pretty ignorant about rack mounted effects, midi and all that. What I'd like to know is, can more that one effect be played simultaneously? I know there is a bank that has dual effects but I'm more interested in editing the effects I want and saving them to the user bank so I can have them ready to go. Is this possible?
Sorry if this is simple stuff. I just never got around it. Cheers!

Welcome to TGP! No such thing as a dumb question, but here's my dumb answer :AOK
I'm pretty sure you have to use the pairs Lexicon gives you as a base for your preset. You can change up what you need in each patch and save it for your own sound.
Most of the bases appear to be covered. What tones are you needing that they don't offer? If your MPX550 has been changed from factory settings, there is a way to clear it back to factory settings on page 44 of the manual.
Also, check page 62 of the manual with regards to the dual effects.

I hope that helps a little bit.

Thanks,
I found out how restore the sytem setting right away after messing everything up.
What I'm after is one effect on say drums and another for vocals. Two different effects at the same time. I guess I only get one if I understand what your saying. I'll just keep playing with it. The reverbs and delays are really nice.
Thanks!

You're welcome. Yes and no about only one effect at a time.
What you should look for are the 'dual mono' modes. In other words, you can have your vocals & effects on the left channel and your drums & effects running on the right channel. The dual mono effects start at preset #190 and the dual mono reverb effects start at #205. Hopefully you can find the effect pairing that will work best for you. (see page 62 and 71 of the manual for a little more about it)
Another possibility for you if you need very different effects would be to get another unit. You can pick up an MPX110 on ebay for around $80-$100. The MPX110 is a single processor unit, but it will give you the same reverbs OR delays. From what I understand, the dual processor of the MPX550 dedicates a chip for verb and another for the other multi effects. The MPX110 only has one chip, and if you're using only verb, you're getting the same type of processing power. Another plus is that you've got a backup piece to work in a pinch if one or the other breaks.
