I am a remarkably nice MIM Strat that I m still deciding on either shielding with copper or upgrading the pickups.

I like the ceramics for their punch and thought that the next logical move would be the JB set.

Any one have either a JB Strat or have tried the pickups as replacements?

Thanks

I'm not much of a vintage strat sounding guy to start and I have a low tolerance to 60 cycle hum. I also don't care for staggered poles - because, not often mind you, but a times G string is too loud and high E not loud enough. I replaced the Tex Mex pickups in my Jimmy Vaughan strat with Fender Hot Noiseless Pickups - these are the JB pups you are talking about.

No noise! The bridge pup is not as harsh, believe or not, and is actually playable form. No tone control in the middle pup here - I love the raw sound. Again punch without harshness. Neck pup is great by itself. Not as much quack in positions 2 and 4. But you can get it back by scooping the mids more on the amp or using an EQ pedal. I like them.

I put a set of Hot Noiseless pickups into my CP 60s strat to get rid of the hum. I really like these pickups, they can get you the classic clean tone, but they work great cranked. Great for harder rock styles, but I play mostly blues, funk, classic rock they are excellent for that too (to my ears at least). I recommend these (to people who arent looking for vintage clones) and if/when i get another Fender ill probably get another set of HN pickups as well.

I tried the vintage noiseless (not the "hot") ones, and was pretty impressed. Then I put in a set of Kinman's and couldn't believe my ears and fingers. Really amazing noiseless pickups...and quite a bit more expensive than the Fender noiseless. But really worth it. Check 'em out.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. Still though, the Kinman's are worth checking out...noiseless or not.

Have em in the JB Strat. I like em. No troubling issues for me having them.

I put them in the neck and bridge positions of my old Clapton. It was an improvement that just added a little liveliness, IMO.
