Anyone having the same issue as I am with this R.I. JMI Tone Bender?
When I have the pedal engaged, and I am not playing, this thing gives off an obnoxious amount of buzzzz/hissss. Is this common with this fuzz box, or is there something screwed up on this one?
Please help.... I love the tone of this thing, but man that hiss has got to go.
I'm running into a AC30tb6 from 1999. I run this amp pretty hot for gigs and rehearsal. About 3 to 4 o'clock...
Thanks,
Biggear

I don't have one of these, but it doesn't surprise me that you're getting noise with the pedal engaged while you're not playing. It's a fuzz, man. Turn it off while you're not playing.

most fuzz boxes all have a fair bit of hiss...nature of the beast Im afraid to say.

yeah mine does have a small amount of noise, it's in no way unbearable though, infact it seemed quite in relation to alot of my other fuzzes. But yeah, generally after about 3 o'clock on the attack knob, the noise gets worse.

I bet it is working fine and that your rig is what is causing the noise. The noise doesn't even necessarily mean there is anything wrong with any other component of your rig.
There's a youtube of Jeff Beck kicking in his MKI before a Yarbirds solo, and the thing buzzes like hell. I'll try to find it. My MKII doesn't really get noisy until after 12 on the attack, but I play bedroom levels.

It was certaintly true of some the original vox tone benders I've tried.

mine's kinda noisy ... it may be leaky transistors I suppose, 'cause it does have shielded wiring
no biggie once your playing it

well a simple way to tell if there's anything sub-par about your MkII is, try setting the attack at 10' o clock or less, it should be pretty much silent at this setting (mine is). Mine only gets noisey after around 2 or 3 o'clock. (And I always set the level to around 3 o'clock.)

a Mk1 is not not noisy at all, he just got some feedback in that one clip.

Hey, thanks folks... Well, I know my rig is fine.. never had a problem with it before, and when I run the pedal direct (guitar, pedal, amp) it still makes a lot of noise. So, I'll try some settings as mentioned above.... see what happens. I've only had one other Fuzz pedal in my 20 years of playing. I think I sold it because it was noisy also. But, this JMI TB sound great when playing. It's a keeper.... mega tone.... Guess it may just be the characteristics of a Fuzz. Especially at high volume levels.
Thanks again gear heads. Appriciate your time.
Are you using single coils or humbuckers? My Tele with Fender Nocaster Pickups can get terribly noisy with my MKII and Supa Fuzz, especially if I'm too close to the amp.

I'm using a Gibson 57 Goldtop VOS and a Fender Vintage hot rod telecaster.
Get the same hiss when using both guitars. I'm kinda over the noise now, since the thing sounds so good. I'll just have to be a little more quick with my feet.
