Can anyone reccomend a great place to buy small quantites of caps, resistors, etc, that also won't kill me on shipping.

I literally need to buy like, ONE cap. :messedup

tubesandmore.com is good for onesy, twosy items. I bit more expensive than Mouser, Newark, or other electronic supply places, but makes it easy for you to find what you need and shipping is relatively cheap. Mouser can really nail you with shipping chargers if you are not careful.

tubesandmore has a $10 minimum order, otherwise you get a $2.50 order fee along with their regular $2.50 handling fee plus shipping. They ain't the cheapest.

Try Doug Hoffman at Hoffmanamps.com. No minimum order fee, his shipping rates are reasonable, and he ships faster than anyone in the biz.

Yes, Doug is another good source.

If it's a single cap, what is it that you need. I may have one for you or someone on the board may have one as well.

FWIW, I almost never order less than $10 at tubesandmore, so I never have issue with the extra fees.

I like angela.com for lots of that stuff.

Yeah, tubes and more has what I'm looking for, but it's a $10 minimum. I could always find something else to buy in order to make it worth my while, but I guess I was taking a longshot to see if there's any place I could get just ONE cap for like, $1-2 shipped.

Thanks for the PMs guys. I'd be glad to payal any of you $1 or so, for you to throw the cap in an envelop and mail it.

Also try Smallbear, he has some good stuff and no minimum order. Also a great guy to deal with.

Man - for "one cap", I'd be stopping off at Radio Shack on my way home from work...

Metroamps is great and sells mainly Marshall clone oriented parts though I just bought 2 Carling switches for a Twin Reverb from them. They take Paypal and ship small orders via the post office which is cheaper for small weights.

Al+1 on Smallbear Electronics. Although, they don't have a wide selection, they do have some key parts at very reasonable prices and shipping charges.

Man - for "one cap", I'd be stopping off at Radio Shack on my way home from work...That's what I do for non tone-path-critical applications

Also, you can usually think of other parts you'll likely need before long, so you can make a shopping list for a small stock of key parts to avoid the onesy buy.

Why not just check locally? Radioshack probably has it or if you look in the Yellow pages you're bound to find a small electronics store that carries it.

The problem with radio shack would be the extremely limited component values.
Good luck if you need something rated for tube amp voltages especially a filter cap.
On the rare occasion/emergency that I need a cap or resistor, I hit up the local Mom & Pop TV shop. If you check your local phone directory chances are there could still be one in your area.
Also look for local Ham radio operators or clubs. Those guys are great sources.

Last time I was in the Mom & Pop by me, he still had Sprague black beauty caps, NOS orange drops, Allen Bradley resistors and even nos sockets.

What do you need. If I have it in stock I sell you one for cost plus mailing.
