early 70,s deluxe reverb, playing last night the amp started making a stactic crunching noise, low volume, and distorted sound, i flipped it to standby, and back on , worked great the rest of the show, took it home and it did it again, flped to standby, and works great again for now, some one told me there mesa boogie manual actualy says to do this if the amp acts up, and the power tubes might have a short that only ocasenily will happen ?? the amps been recaped, new resistors etc...... thanks........:)

It could be a tube issue. Could be a few other things, but tubes are always the first suspects.

REcently the Driver tube in my Vintage Club went bad and thats the sound it made. But for me It would only stop after I pulled the tube out then put it back in. Then it would wrok for a bit then noise, static and quiet again. If you can figure out which preamp rube is the driver try replacing it and see if that works.
