KT66 in my LPTT ... ?

Hi Gang, it's a Victoria 50212 & currently has JJ 6L6GC's. First, I was wondering what to expect tone/volume wise if I try them, & second it there things I need to worry about if I just pop a set (what brand?) in. I heard some have a metal base that can't be used with the alligator retention holders, as they are tied to pin 1 ... yada yada yada .... please e'splain Lucy, laymans terms!!!
