I just got my 66 Pro Reverb back from the repair shop after having all new tubes installed and biased. I also had a new brite switch installed in channel (2) two. Unfortunately, I didn't check the amp out before I left the shop because I was in a hurry and I never had a problem with the Amp Tech. When I got it home and played it I discovered that channel (1) one is totally dead, not even a hum...complete silence?

What could have caused this to happen. Both channels worked prior to having the new tubes and brite switch installed?

Thanks

try swapping out V1 and V2... if channel two is then not working, you know it is the preamp tube.

It could be a tube which was just about to die, or a wire could have broken clean after the last time he had it running. If it's a tube, you don't need to contact him, which would be more convenient than schlubbing it back in.

I would take it back. He should check that stuff.

Thanks guys, I will swap the V1-V2 tubes and see what happens. These are brand new tubes but I'm sure it's possible I could have gotten a defective tube.

Brand new tubes can break. It happens. I'm sure the tech is used to things like that happening occasionally.

OK, so I swapped the tubes and the 12AX7 in V1 was bad. As I was attempting to pull it out to replace it it cracked in my hand! I had to wrap it with duck tape in order to get it out in one piece! Thank you all for the good advice!!!!
