So I've got a 14AWG power cable that I want to install in my Classic 30 and it says its rated for 75°C but I've noticed other cables are over 100°C. Can I still use that cable? I've also got an old analog multimeter and I'm wondering where I should set the knob at to check that I've drained the caps properly. I would asume it should be set in the DCV side around 500? Thanks. I'm new to this.

No need. Take and make up a test lead with a resistance built in, say, 27k or thereabouts. When you open up the amp clip it between ground and the first plate of the first preamp tube-or any point along the B+ rail and ground. Make sure the standby switch is in the on position. Leave the lead there until you need to close 'er up or test. That'll assure your safety.
