so on-point, and so equally unforgettable for me.

besides that, in addition to the content:
have a listen to the rhythm of his phrasing.....

I always thought that was a truly great song. I really like the live version from the Princes Trust Concert with Dylan, Harrison, Clapton et al.

Thanks for letting me borrow your ears to re-focus my listen to that.

The eclecticismof your musical interests should never surprise me, but for no particular reason other than my own narrower viewpoint, it sometimes does.

One of the great singers. And not a shabby songwriter. :)

I grew up on the Byrds version of that song; always loved it. Though I have more than an average awareness of Bobby D, I'm embarrassed to say I'd never before heard him sing it. What an amazing body of work, still in progress.

It took me a long time to be able to appreciate just how huge he is as a musician - the songwriting was a given of course, I'm not that thick. When you listen back to Hwy 61 and BonB, etc and realize that nobody had really made sounds like that before and assembled them with the lyrics in that stream of consciousness way before it still sounds really fresh after almost 50 years. He's just so deep on so many levels - amazing.

I remember seeing the concert (on PBS, I think) on TV. That particular song was a goose-bump moment..... which just happened again as I watched the above clip. RIP George.
