ZZounds is awesome

I have no affiliation with Zzounds.com, but just wanted to give them a shout out for the great price matching (actually beating the competitors price) without giving me the third degree.

I've tried buying (wanted them to price match) a couple things recently from Guitar Center, and they practically wanted me to get a blood test/lie detector/court signed documentation before they would do anything. That just isn't cool to me, and as a consumer, I just won't do business anymore with a company like that.

On the other hand, I called Zzounds.com on the phone this morning, and told them I had a 20% off coupon from GC (The one I had might have only been 15% off - 4th July postcard they sent out), and asked if they could price match it. The guy said, "Yeah, no problem, we'll do it for $10 less too." So I bought my Pedaltrain Pro w/ ATA case for $230. Awesome. No hassles or BS, or being treated like a fookin crook. They also did the same a few weeks back when I bought my Marshall 2061CX cabinet from them. Price matched by word of mouth only. Amazing.

GC (and other companies) take note, treat your customers well, or they will bail on you.

I like them as well I have bought a few pedals some speakers and amp from them also never an Issue returning an item.

I've always had very good service from ZZounds. I cannot the the same about Musiciansfriend (owned by GC) on the other hand- so I don't buy from them anymore.

i found the return process to be a pain compared to other companies, but there prices are good and they seem to carry items other stores don't. i still cant recommend them if you think you "might" return the item.

I've never had to return anything to them before. What sort of problems did you have?

I've bought a ton of stuff from them, very cool to deal with.

I've had them actually look up and find cheaper prices on the internet then match the price!?!?!

i bought my first amp (a hot rod deville) from zzounds many years back when they were having a sale to move their wherehouse.

and usually you get stuff next day in NYC. =)

I know what you mean... I've ordered stuff from them about ten times and twice it was scary fast, but they have been at normal speed for the past few months. When I say scary fast, I mean like placing a order at about noon and it comes to your door the next morning around 10am.

Sweetwater can't be beat as far as product knowledge, but they don't price match, at least last time I checked. The staff at Zzounds are fairly knowledgable about the stuff and do pricematch, so I guess it depends what's more important to you and what you're buying.

Sweetwater does a great job at packing which can be very important to me. If I had to rate them, overall Sweetwater would be first.

I returned an item once to Zzounds and I had to talk to a manager who finally saw it my way AFTER I asked for the CEO's email address! This was two years ago and haven't been back.

Can't say I've experienced that. But what I found weird about Sweetwater is how they almost stalk you after the fact, now that I think about it. Is it just me, or is it weird to get phone messages left saying "Hey Dave, it's Brian from Sweetwater. Just calling to make sure everything is okay, and to see how that compressor is working out for you and to see if you need help with anything. If you need anything, just call me direct at (phone # left with direct extension). Hope to talk with you soon."

This was like 4 months, maybe 6 months after the sale. Kind of weird. I've talked to other people about this and they've gotten calls, too. My wife thinks it's hilarious.

I bought a 'new' guitar from zzounds that was obviously a B stock or returned item, as it had obviously been played before. There was also a problem with it. It took them almost a month to send me the return UPS stickers. I won't do business with them again.
