I'm looking for a strat pickup that has a vintage flavor to them but also has enough output that i can use them to overdrive my amps

I want to be able to dig in and get some dirt but ease up and clean out the tone.

The guitar this will be going into is a basswood body and a koa top with a rosewood fret board and maple neck. Its the Limited Edition Koa Fender Strat

Van Zandt Blues. Or, if you can get by with a little less power, Don Mare/Junior Watsons or Van Zandt Vintage Pluses. There are many more offerings from Van Zandt, Jason Lollar, Lindy Fralin, and Fred Stuart just to name a few but they're more along the lines a true vintage sounding pu.

I have used them all and say that the Lollar Blackface are the best IMHO. Get a special in the bridge (Dirty Blackface Set).

rio grande pickups have this that may interest you too

Dual Calibrated Set
(Muy Grande/Halfbreed/Vintage Tallboy) Gives you a thicker, more balanced sound in all 5 positions without sacrificing versatility by using the Muy Grand in the bridge, the Halfbreed in the middle, and the Vintage Tallboy in the neck....

all the rio grande pickups i have used have been very impressive

I have a set of Lollar Specials coming in that I hope will do just that...

CS 69's are great for the money, for a something a little more exotic, Bare Knuckles Irish Tours...I'm selling a set with a base plate on the bridge (great addition) that are just a little hotter then stock. PM me if interested. There are a ton of good ones !

Alnico 3 .197 vintage diameter pups wound to around 6k, 6k, and 6.7k. Talk vintage and still has enough power to push.

I had a full set of half breeds in my parts strat. They sounded nice but I the guitar itself just wasn't me and I started parting it out.
