Picking up a reissue Ampeg Jet II today purchased from a pal over at the Gretsch Discussion Pages. The amp is being delivered via ground service.

I am finding that the worst part of any delivery is if you lose control and start watching the tracking information on UPS, Fed Ex, whatever...The info will drive you nuts:

Departs say L.A. at 8PM on Thursday
Arrives Phoenix 6AM Friday
Departs Phoenix Denver 9AM Friday
Arrives Denver 6PM Friday
Departs Denver 1AM Saturday
Arrives Chicago 7AM Monday

AAARGH!!!

It sure beats no tracking information being left in the dark. It just gives you every step of the process where it was scanned on the label barcode since it goes through a series of hubs shipping via tractor trailer and should tell you when your delivery is expected to arrive via package car at your destination and lets you know where your shipment is in the process. How can that be losing control? It's a vast improvement from the old days. I worked for UPS Corporate for 20 years and now retired.

I'm doing the same thing today waiting for my new Kasha head. I used the old Rockmod preamp forever in the studio and it was great. This head is 3 channel, switchable between EL34/6L6 power sections...argh I can't wait. http://kashaamplifiers.com/images/100W-Head-large.jpg

I'm dealing with it today from an eBay purchase... Today is the day too. I've got a FedEx list just like yours... ugh!

EDIT: My doorbell just rang. I thought it was my amp... instead, it was a Jehovah's Witness person! NO LIE! Grrrrrr

My least favorite UPS message is "Unable to deliver due to special event". That equates to "The UPS driver is afraid of my 12 year old Golden Retriever on the porch". The consequence is having to drive all the way across town to pick up the package that I paid to have delivered to my HOUSE.

WTF! Normally the UPS guy is here by now. I've watched two UPS trucks speed down my street (a small suburban side street) and still no delivery. Right now I have to take a shower, but I'm afraid as soon as I do so, he's going to come. The guy who shipped the amp checked the "adult signature" box, and I'm afraid that if I'm not there to sign for it, he won't leave it. :(

Feel your pain. Waiting on my DC30 last week, I noticed UPS never put up the anticipated 'Out for Delivery' message. Drove me crazy. Thought something was wrong and called UPS for clarification. They assured me it was on the way, but probably missed the scan, arrrrgh. I must have looked 20 times for a correction, finally the wife called wanting to know why in the heck I ordered an amp that weighed 130 lbs in the flight case! Knew I was okay then, lol.

Did you use the bathroom or take a shower???

Next time, put a signed note up and say: "I'm home. Just ring the bell hard!!! If no response, just leave the item out front."

My UPS guy is a machine. He delivers past my house everyday around 5 o'clock. At 5:02 today I heard the truck coming around the corner... life is good. (The wife is out of town and would have been home by now...life is better.)

The amp is out of the box now...if it sounds as good as it looks there may be an AC15 on sale here shortly.

haha... I actually had to go to work. When my wife got home she said UPS didn't even leave the post-it type note on the door saying that they tried to deliver it, so I think the guy rolled up, saw no car in the driveway and just took off.

I ordered a Stage Craft 4x10 cab and every day check its status. The Shipping date box has remained blank 4 two weeks (although the guy said it would take two weeks to make) I am just dieing for the day when that box says shipped xx/xx/xxxx.

I will tell you whats worse is when the guy (fed ex) makes three delivery attepmts so you have to go get it at their shipping center over 1 hour away. That guy made three tries at the same exact time after I left notes saying I am not/never home at that time can a different time be arranged? Fed Ex says that they will try different times for delivery and yet the two tags he left were with in minutes of each other! The third attempt, in which no tag was left, I had to check it on line, was also made with in minutes of the first two. My goodness!!!

I reckon the best part of buying anything guitar related IS THE WAIT!

The anticipation, the excitement, the highs and the lows, lets face it, your feelings after you recieve it will never match the hills and valleys and tiime stretching madness of THE WAIT!

I'm glad I found this thread. I ordered a Matchless Avalon on the 2nd of July and have been waiting "patiently" since to get it. Christine has been very patient and willing to answer all my emails. It was shipped last Friday and it's killing me to know/ nt know when it's comig this week!!
