Have an audition for a band tonight. MOdern rock covers, pretty good set list, all contemporary stuff. The original ad was for a rhythm guy, but now they tell me that their only guitar player has left, and I'll be playing all the guitar parts.
I was more keen on playing second fiddle to someone, and being in the ideal position of playing with a better player. I know they are auditioning other guys, so I am going to try and steer their think back to having a rhythm/lead or " two guitar" situation, to take pressure off and give me less to prepare.
Either way, I'm following the advice of many wise men and taking the opportunity to "play with others".
We'll see how I go. I have only had a day to prepare, as I've been away working the last 2 weeks.
Wish me luck !!

Sounds like fun-- what are some of the tunes?

Good luck!

Good luck. I say stick with the one guitar. Less people to split the money with at the end of the night. And a lot guitarists are hard to work with.

This is the set-list. Money is not an issue for me. I have a day-job. I know it can be a pain to find the right people to work with, btu if I can be easy, I'm hoping someone else can be too.
Thanks for the good wishes, people. If I relax, I'll play OK.

I've played a bunch of that stuff over the last few years. I want to be in that band!

Good luck, prepare well.

Great set list.... as far as two guitars... I probably would have turned down the audition knowing there was another guitarist, but since their guitarist left, good luck

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I saw the ad. Initially they responded that they had found someone, but then they decided to do more auditions while I was away on a work contract.
If I had another week to prepare, I could learn more of the songs, but they are looking for "fit" as much or more than playing ability anyway, which is a good sign to me.
