I actually liked his voice on Jeff Beck's "Ambitious". Thought it was great! Never heard him as a "crooner"...is he covering old standards now?

Good voice but way too white bread to be a good crooner. You gotta have a broken heart and a whiskey soaked voice to be a good crooner. He should stick to Broadway musicals and he'll do just fine.
He's a little bit rock and roll. As much as George Michael is a crooner, that's where I'd put Donny.

He could have fronted a lot of rock band of the past and been an improvement. Whats freaky is he can play bad ass rock guitar.

I don't think he's covering a whole lot of new ground doing it.

I don't think so. Sinatra, Dean Martin, white boys with voices of gold.
Go Donny, whatever you want to do don't listen to the naysayers.

Is this a trick question?
I got a little queasy looking at that photo. But hey, if Rod Stewart can do it, Donny certainly can. I think Rod's Great American Songbook series made him a pile of cash.

I didn't say he couldn't croon because he was white, I said he couldn't croon because he's too white bread. No heartache, no vengeful ex-wives, no bourbon soaked parties with the rat pack. He's an O.K. singer in the broadway vein but he's no Sinatra, Bennett or Cole. You gotta feel it to sing it and I don't think he's ever "felt" anything.

Donny went thru a rough patch via family business deals gone sour,
and indifferent treatment from the music biz when he first came of
age and was typecast(sound familiar?;)) as, umm ...... whitebread.
I think, no ... I'm sure he's tasted some bad times, and "felt" some
negative vibrations .
Now, would I buy the album ?
HELL, no !

I may be pretty much ambivalent to "crooning" and Donnie in equal measure. Hopefully he's touring it and employing some musicians though.?
