Pretty good show at a smaller theatre last night. Extreme's mix was (at least I thought) a bit muddy- Nuno and Gary were just sort of distorted and not clean. Otherwise, they put on a SLAMMING slow, including a cool version of "Wanna be Starting Something" by Michael Jackson. Nuno did "Flight of the Bumblebee" and was great as usual, playing his Washburns.
I only stayed for 5 or 6 Ratt songs, but DeMartini and Cavazo were great too. Warren was playing his Charvels and Carlos was playing mostly Gibson V's. Their mix was really good, though I though Stephen Pearcy (singer) could have been turned up a tad. I was pleasantly surprised by them, I was really only there to see Extreme and they definitely were great too.
Of course, I am not a professional sound guy, so my opinions on the mixes and sounds are just mine....LOL
All in all, a nice night out. I haven't been to a concert in ages.

Is this the original Ratt lineup less Crosby?

DeMartini has always been one of my fave players -- he and Lynch are the two "tastiest" guitarists to come from LA during that era.....love him!
but DAMN HIM for giving me those stainless steel picks in the 80s, damn things helped give me tendinitis ;)

I thought Extreme would never reunite, at least that's what Nuno always said! :)
I always thought that he is an amazing guitarist -I need to see them live.....

How does a pick help give you tendonitis? I'm genuinely curious.

They're probably missing both Crosby and Juan.

I'm a big Ratt fan, but consider yourself lucky that Pearcy's mic was turned down, if you know what I mean. :)

I saw them in LA, Extreme was awesome, super tight band. I also only saw 5 Ratt tunes just to hear Dimartini who was tasteful, then my friends made me leave. I expected Ratt to be horrible, but they weren't bad, still at a loss as to why Extreme would opend for Ratt. The mix wasn't great for either band.

Juan is no longer playing with Ratt; funny, Juan was the bass player for I band I was in back in the early 70s. Great guy, very young, very good bass player. Although I missed all of the 80s music doing other things, it was cool to find out that he had made his mark in a pretty popular band. I do believe that it did cost him his marriage though.

Extreme WANTED to open, apparently aware that half the audience would leave just 5 songs into the headliner's set.

They are playing somewhere in KC tonight. Nuno was at my local music store (Funky Munky) signing autographs this afternoon. Wish I could have taken a long lunch and gone over but too much to do.

Cool!
I saw Extreme open for DLR around 1992 or so, Nuno alone was worth the admission. Someday I'll tell you about the night in the 80's when we COULD NOT get rid of Blotzer and DeMartini at one of our gigs...it was sure a night to remember.
but DAMN HIM for giving me those stainless steel picks in the 80s, damn things helped give me tendinitis ;)
Really??? How? Explain?
I never *got* those, but they made one hell of a pickslide sound.
see! I'm not alone - FESS UP!

I guess his other options at making a living failed to pan out, surprise surprise.
I remember when Extreme use to play in Kenmore Square.

It's cool that they picked up Cavazos. Good player and a good fit for Ratt.
Blotzer was living in Houston for a while and I got to meet him one night at a Warrant show. Very nice, down to earth guy.

yeah, Ratt was minus Juan and Robbin. They definitely sounded solid.
I remember seeing Extreme at Malden High School, pre Nuno! LOL

I just went to the Extreme and Ratt show (with Swirl opening) this passed Friday at the Chicago House of Blues. I went because i saw Extreme last fall and they were phenomenal. They were phenomenal once again, very energetic stage show, fun to watch and an incredibly tight band. Nuno never misses a note. Even Pat Badger was moving around and looking like he was having a blast this time.
Swirl played for a half hour which was perfect for an opening band. Nuno played his new 20th anniversay N4 for a couple of songs (which i guess he was signing before the show at some private function). Pretty guitar, Korina top, birdseye maple neck, gold hardware and nuno logos for the position markers.
I was excited to see Ratt but we ended up leaving early. It was nice to see Warren Demartini And Carlos Cavazzo but Stephen Pearcy was not quite all there and seemed to be phoning it in. I like Warren's playing, very tasty chops, but after a few songs you realize their songwriting doesn't seem to vary much in time signature and key - after a while they all kind of sounded the same. This is my opinion of course. I would definitely see extreme again but i'm pretty sure i don't need to see Ratt again.

If you haven't heard or picked up Extremes latest album, do it. Their best yet! Some songs you will expect and some you won't.
King of the Ladies! Just can't get that out of my head for a while after listening to it.

Juan hasn't played with Ratt in over 10 years. Not sure why, he may have quit music, or he only does production now.

Saw Ratt here last summer. The first show they did with Carlos. They were very very good. Great setlist of mostly early material.
Minus the giant stage & light show, they were better than what they were when I saw them on the Invasion & Dancing Undercover tours.
Got to talk to Warren & Carlos afterward. Both were extremely nice & humble guys. If they come back around, I won't hesitate to go.

I saw ratt this past saturday. Extreme didnt play this show unfortunately as I would have loved to see Nuno. Warren D played great. I love his phrasing and tasteful chops. I didnt care for the soldanos through the pa though. They sounded mushy to me but overall I was pleasantly surprised with how they sounded as a band.

I don't know about the show you saw, but it seems that Warren has been using a Diezel VH4 as his main amp for a few years now. The SLO is still there in a rack alongside the VH4, but it looks to me like the VH4 is what's always on nowadays.
I know, I'm shocked by that too. Not because the VH4 doesn't rock, but because he's used SLOs for 15 years or more.
Warren was always one of my favorite guitarists from that era. His bluesy phrasing and tone were always killer!

It was the toldeo ohio show. Hw did have the diezel and the soldano in the rack. I thought when the guitar tech was doing sound check he was using the vh4 for his cleans only? Im not sure but when he footswitched to the other sound..the big 80's distortion sound it sounded exactly the same as Carlos's amp which were both soldano slos and being soundchceked at the same time. This is why I assumed they both were using the soldanos for their grind?

He knew the end was coming so he gave him self a lethal dose of H...
He actually wrote a lot of the cool riffs.

He also said (and i quote)
"When i'm gone, don't feel sorry for me; i've lived the lives of 10 men"
He knew his days were numbered at the time he said that.

I saw Ratt back around 83 or so when they were based in LA and had just released their first four song EP.
I was just totally blown away by Warren's playing and mysterious attitude/stage presence.

Hmmm, I dunno then. I do know that when I saw them in St. Louis, the Soldano SLO wasn't even on (unless the jewel light was burned out?) I've seen other pics of his rig around the web where the VH4 is on and the SLo is off.

not just your opinion...lalala killed the metal scene inn 1993 more than anybody else...Nirvana included. too many bands doing the same sounding songs in the same key.
