I've been trying to sell my old Warwick Corvette 4-string on Craiglist and eBay for the past few months. I've been listing it at $650, which I think is fair for an instrument that retails for $1200, with no luck. Not even a reasonable offer.

So I stop by my local GC with the Warwick and just for shits and giggles, I ask them what it's worth on a trade.

$650

So I gave them $100 and left with a Mint 1999 Lonestar Strat.

I'm flipping THRILLED at this turn of events.

Wow -- please excuse my ignorance but would that be the US Lonestar model?

yeah, It's the USA model. It appears to have a Pau Ferro fingerboard, which I was not aware came stock on any production Fender except the SRV.

Here's the real kicker--the back of the headstock is signed by Zakk Wylde!

Yea, baby!

Congrats on the guitar!

Either they had gotten it for real cheap or the sales guy had a brain fart.

Would love to see some pictures when you have them.

Sometimes I'd taken aback at the decent trade-in prices GC offers for gear. Never hurts to ask, right?

yeah, I couldn't believe my ears when he said it. My raised eyebrows must have given away my thoughts, but all I said was, "That's fair."

It's a color I've never seen before, like a turquoise-ish green.

GC will give good money for something they think they can flip fairly fast at a profit.

sometimes it is beneficial that the majority (i am not talking about some of you, i have met some very informed workers there) of gc's staff seems to have trouble telling the difference between a bass and a guitar.

I traded my ES-137 towards a Breedlove acoustic a couple of months ago at the Hollywood GC; the deal went very smoothly, and they gave me about what I would've gotten selling it in the emporium... without the hassle of shipping. I was very surprised, given my experiences with other GC's in SoCal, but it worked out well. I'll definitely try shopping there again (but still won't set foot in any of the other ones in this area).
